Michael Lewis, The Big Short

June 03, 2010 By: admin Category: Books

A must read to get some insight into the current fiasco. The author follows stories of a few sharp guys who saw it coming and invariably encountered dismissive opinions. Does not stress sufficiently the nefarious role of the CRA and Bill Clinton’s 1994 actions that were at the root of all the current predicament. ISBN 978-0-393-07223-5

  1. Initially, I followed the story in the wall street journal as it unfolded; this book filled in what was hidden to most of us. i find it very interesting how money is really based on faith. Money, stocks and bonds is such a game and things that happen with them really don’t effect people directly. if we all go about our business without knowing anything worth knowing, it all seems to work ok. it is amazing to me how there is a great disconnect between the average wage earner and the invester who wins or looses great sums of money, like the gamer at Vegas. if we as a simple people have the things we need, it doesnt seem to matter very much what happens in the financial world. Thanks for the insight, as the book was very intesting well-written, easy to understand and follow for someone like most of us who aren’t deeply involved in the finanial world on a day-to-day basis.
